トベラ科　　学名：Pittosporum tobira

暖温帯の海岸最前列に生育する代表的な常緑低木で、ウバメガシ、マルバシャリンバイ、マサキ、ハマヒサカキとなどと共に風衝低木林を形成します。花は白色で、果実が割れると赤く粘り気のある種子が目立ちます。

An evergreen shrub that grows in the foremost areas of coastline in the warm temperate zone. Along with Quercus phillyraeoides and Euonymus japonicus, this tree makes up this wind-shaped forest. Its flowers are white, and the sticky red seeds that its fruit produces are striking.
