イラクサ科　　学名：Oreocnide pedunculata

暖地の湿った林縁に生える常緑低木。本州伊豆半島以南から台湾に分布し、高知県では足摺岬以西に自生しています。葉は3本の脈が目立ち、質がやや厚く、裏面に綿毛はありません。果実は小さな痩果で、白い多肉質の花被がつきます。

A bulb-forming perennial that grows in the sandy soil of coastal areas from the west of the southern Kanto region to the Ryukyu Islands. In the summer, it produces many white flowers. In the autumn it produces large seeds that even if dried out will easily germinate. These seeds often end up in the ocean where they are carried far away by ocean currents.
