マキ科　　学名：Nageia nagi

梛。和歌山県以南の暖地の常緑広葉樹林内に自生する針葉常緑高木で、神木として神社にも植えられます。雄の木と雌の木があり、球形の種子は10月に熟し、濃緑の葉は楕円状で主脈はなく平行脈が目立ちます。

A broadleaf evergreen tree species found in warm areas south of Wakayama Prefecture. It is planted on Shinto shrine grounds and treated as a sacred tree. There are male and female varieties, and its round seeds ripen in October. Its dark green leaves with veins arranged nearly parallel to one another are a noteworthy feature.
