キク科　　学名：Farfugium japonicum var. japonicum

石蕗。海岸近くの林床や林縁に生えるキク科の常緑多年草。葉は丸く光沢があります。冬に咲く黄色い花はよく目立ち、アシズリノジギクと共に冬の足摺岬を彩ります。葉柄が食用とされるほか、足摺半島では葉を押し寿司に利用します。

An evergreen perennial plant that grows on the edges of forests near the coast. Its leaves are round and glossy. Its yellow flowers bloom in the winter, adorning the Ashizuri coastline along with the white Ashizuri chrysanthemum. Its leafstalk is edible, and in the Ashizuri area it is used in pressed sushi.
