ホルトノキ科　　学名：Elaeocarpus zollingeri var. zollingeri

千葉県以西の暖帯から琉球の亜熱帯まで分布する南方系の常緑高木で、タブノキ林に生え大木となります。花は白色で、花弁の先が糸状に裂けます。果実は黒紫色に熟します。初夏に古い葉が紅葉します。高知では街路樹に植えられています。

A southern evergreen tree found in subtropical climates from the west of Chiba Prefecture to the Ryukyu Islands. Its flower is white and the petals are threadlike. When ripe, its fruit is a dark purple color. Its old leaves change colors in early summer. In Kochi Prefecture, they are planted as roadside trees.
