Visit to traditional soda-bushi barn and soda-bushi shaving activity
Duration:60 min.
Thanks to the bounty of the Kuroshio Current, Tosashimizu City boasts Japan’s largest production of soda-bushi (bonito flakes made from dried bullet mackerel).
You can visit the site of soda-bushi production, where the aroma of dried bullet mackerel is wafting through the air, and learn the secrets of making the most of the bounties of the sea and mountains.
In addition, this is a great way to experience the taste of dashi broth and make your own bottle of umami soy sauce to take as a souvenir!
Please be sure to visit the soda-bushi barn when you come to Tosashimizu.
