Ushi-oni (Buyale) have long been used in Uwajima City as demon charms to ward off evil spirits. They are displayed and posted all over the city, and they are very much loved by the citizens.
We have prepared an activity where visitors can paint an Ushi-oni carving toy, or “Buyare,” as their own original “My Ushi-oni.”
